I know. But I do not approve. And I am not resigned.
Hello Friends, The success of our local legislative delegation in Tuesday's election has been overshadowed by John Kerry's narrow loss of the presidency. A day that began with abundant hope for a new direction, ended with deep concern for the future of our country. Those of us who care about progressive ideals should reflect for a while, but only for a while. There is much work to be done and no time to waste. I think it's important to remember that Massachusetts remains a place where progressivism thrives. A record number of voters turned out to defeat every one of Romney's so-called Reform Team, indicating that the highest Democratic values of preserving and advancing social and economic justice are treasured by the majority of Massachusetts citizens. And that is a comforting thought. I want you, my friends and supporters, to know how much I appreciate your efforts to return me to office. I take very seriously the responsibilities of serving you in the Massachusetts Senate and the confidence you have placed in me. I enjoyed the opportunity to discuss the issues with my opponent and I am eager to take on the challenges that lie ahead. But I am especially energized to continue working in partnership with the people of western Massachusetts to promote the values that won a resounding victory here last Tuesday. There is much work to be done and no time to waste.
Please accept my sincerest thanks,
